Electrician was working for an electrical company on a multiple building construction site. On the day of the incident he was assigned to a fully enclosed building to perform electrical work in a back room. The weather on the day in question was below freezing and there was a fresh coat of snow on the ground. After a scheduled break, Electrician walked from outside in the elements through the main doorway and approximately 15-20 feet into the building when he slipped and fell on water. There was a dispute as to whether there was a puddle in the hallway or if Electrician slipped on the snow stuck in his boot. Electrician had a preexisting torn anterior cruciate ligament aggravated in this incident leading to the recommendation for a knee replacement. (Electrician did not undergo the knee replacement.) Electrician incurred approximately $33,000 in medical bills and missed just over three months of work.
